Chocolate cake with extra lime


For the sponge

  • 225g butter, softened at room temperature, plus extra for greasing
  • 225g light brown soft sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature, lightly beaten
  • 170g self-raising flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 50ml lime juice (about 4 limes)
  • 25g caster sugar
